Mac OS X v10.6 - Quick Summary
Apple's new OS X Snow Leopard is set to be released on August 28, 2009. On the surface there doesn't seem to be many dramatic visual changes. However, under the hood, this new operating system boosts significant performance enhancements over its predecessor. The majority of Snow Leopard's tweeks are internal with its most of its code being rewritten to take advantage of unused power from the multi-core processors in most computers today. In addition many of the Mac OS X applications are written to run in 64 bit mode which allows for them to better take advantage of memory usage. Some minor but nice refinements to Snow Leopard include improvements to Expose, Stacks, Dock, Time Machine, Finder and QuickTime.
